New PhD and post doc students in SFI BLUES
Several new PhD students and post docs have started after the summer. Read more about them below. A full overview of students involved in SFI BLUES can be found here.

Aurora Skare-Haavaag is a PhD candidate in SFI BLUES. She has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Oslo, and a Master of Science in Fluid Mechanics from the same university.
The title of her master thesis was “The mini-tsunami in the Oslo-fjord and effects of ships moving across a depth change”. Her supervisor is John Grue (University of Oslo). In SFI BLUES, Aurora will work with membrane structures in waves and current.

Peter Rohrer is a PhD candidate in SFI BLUES. He holds a BSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and a minor in Oceanography from the University of Michigan. His MSc is in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, also from University of Michigan, involved a thesis titled Large TLP Wind Turbine Design Optimization.
He has internship experience in naval architecture design, engineering support for shipping fleet and offshore engineering. Peter’s interest is project development, lifecycle assessment, generic methods for analysis, offshore renewables. His PhD-project is on Multidisciplinary design optimization of floating wind turbines.

Jan-Victor Björkqvist is a post doc candidate in SFI BLUES. He has a MSc in mathematics and a PhD in geophysics from the University of Helsinki. He has worked at the Finnish Meteorological Institute since 2012.
The title of his post doc project is Fine-scale wave hindcast.

Konstantinos Christakos is a post doc candidate in SFI BLUES. He has a BSc in Physics from the University of Athens, Greece. Konstantinos also has a Phd and a MSc in Geophysics from the University of Bergen, Norway.
The title of his post doc project is Characterization of inhomogenous waves in fjords.
